HABIT

CONTROL

Tried and true techniques for helping your patients overcome their deleterious tongue/thumb sucking and thrusting habits.

You have several options for banding. To ensure the best end result, you should send us a model with the bands you've fitted/sized to your patient's teeth and properly placed on the model. Please thoroughly inspect this banded model for accurate band placement before you send it to us.

The second best option is to send us the bands, which you've already fitted/sized to the patient, for us to seat on the model in our lab. Put the bands in properly labelled little baggies and include them with the prescription and model.

The final option, whereby we band your model with our bands, should only be used as a last resort because its accuracy is far inferior to the first two choices. It creates a much greater chance for improper and/or uncomfortable fit for your patient. Obviously, a band fit to a plaster model is no substitution for a band fit to your patient's tooth.
